SolarWinds

Ironchip acts as the SAML identity provider for SolarWinds. This guide explains how to configure the identity provider in SolarWinds and create the users who authenticate with Ironchip.

  • Access to the Ironchip admin console.
  • A user with permission to configure SolarWinds.
  1. In the Ironchip admin console, create a SAML application.

  2. Download the metadata file.

  5. The next page shows two values: the Audience URI and the SSO Service URL. Make a note of them.

Ironchip asks for the URL of the service provider metadata. To get it, use this code as a reference and replace the values:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<md:EntityDescriptor xmlns:md="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:metadata" validUntil="2122-09-16T10:40:54Z" cacheDuration="PT604800S" entityID="<AUDIENCE_URI>">
<md:SPSSODescriptor AuthnRequestsSigned="false" WantAssertionsSigned="false" protocolSupportEnumeration="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:protocol">
<md:NameIDFormat>urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:1.1:nameid-format:emailAddress</md:NameIDFormat>
<md:AssertionConsumerService Binding="urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:bindings:HTTP-POST" Location="<SSO_SERVICE_URL>" index="1"/>
</md:SPSSODescriptor>
</md:EntityDescriptor>
  • Replace the content of entityID with the Audience URI.
  • Replace the content of Location with the SSO Service URL.

Once you have the block with the changed data, upload it to a public internet address and enter its URL, in raw format, in the Metadata URL field of the Ironchip application.
